Is Matrix right for me?
Who is Matrix for?
Matrix is best for traders with some experience: you have a fair idea of how markets and futures work, what a contract and a tick are worth, and the risk involved in trading them.
It suits people who want small, steady, rule-based days and are happy to let a strict, almost boring process run day after day. It is not for anyone looking to get rich quick.
I'm new to futures. Where can I learn the basics?
Please learn the basics before you trade, even on Sim. These free guides are a good start:
- NinjaTrader 8 Help Guide: how the platform works, screen by screen.
- NinjaTrader: Understanding futures contracts: a beginner's guide to what futures are.
- NinjaTrader: The specs behind futures contracts: contract size, tick size and tick value.
- NinjaTrader: Micro vs. mini futures: why a micro tick is worth one tenth of a mini.
- Investopedia: Tick size: what a tick is, with examples.
These sites are independent of Matrix Trading; we link them for education only.
The strategies
What is Matrix Trading?
Matrix Trading makes automated futures strategies for NinjaTrader 8: Matrix Flow, Matrix Pivot and Matrix Hunter. Each strategy finds its trades, places them and manages them from entry to exit with strict risk management built in.
How are the strategies developed?
With mathematical modeling, the study of market structure, backtesting on years of historical data and machine learning. Every rule is checked on data it was not built on before it becomes part of a strategy, and keeps being checked on live Sim results afterwards. Most ideas we test are dropped.
Do the strategies make $150–$200 every day?
No strategy wins every day. Each one is built around a modest daily profit goal and a hard daily loss limit, so good days stop at the goal and bad days stop at the limit. Some days and weeks will be red. The aim is small, steady gains over many days, not a guaranteed daily income. That's why we offer a free trial: so you can see the performance for yourself and make an informed decision.
How do the strategies manage risk?
Every trade enters with a stop and a target. Each strategy has a daily profit goal and a hard daily loss limit, closes positions by 4:40 PM ET before the daily futures break, and holds at most one position per instrument per account.
Do I need to watch the screen?
No. The strategy watches the market and manages each trade for you. NinjaTrader 8 needs to be running on your PC (or a VPS) while the market is open.
Which markets do they trade?
Matrix Flow trades MES, MNQ and MGC. Based on our modeling, it runs on certain days of the week during the London and New York sessions, takes a maximum of 5 trades a day, and stops once the daily profit goal or loss limit is hit.
Matrix Pivot trades MNQ and MGC. It is very selective: it works during the London and New York sessions and only takes high-probability setups.
Matrix Hunter trades MNQ and MES, primarily during the New York session, hunting for momentum trades when volume is high.
Do I get the source code?
No. The strategies are proprietary and licensed. You get the strategy file, the install guide and a personal licence key.
Free trial
What's included in the trial?
All three strategies on NinjaTrader 8 Sim accounts for 14 days, with the daily P&L dashboard and access to #support and #trial-lounge on Discord. The daily goal and loss limit are fixed during the trial so everyone tests the same settings.
When do the 14 days start?
On first use, when a Matrix strategy first runs with your key, not on the day you sign up.
Do I need a credit card?
No. Only your name and email. The trial ends by itself; nothing is charged.
Can I run the trial on a live or prop account?
No. The trial runs on Sim accounts only.
How do I install it?
Follow the trial setup guide. It walks through every NinjaTrader 8 screen with pictures.
Platforms
Which platforms are supported?
NinjaTrader 8 today.
Will you support Sierra Chart, TradingView or MetaTrader 5?
Integrations with other platforms such as Sierra Chart, TradingView and MetaTrader 5 are being considered, based on demand. Tell us what you use in #support.
Can I run it on a VPS?
Yes, and we recommend it. The strategies only trade while NinjaTrader 8 is running and connected, so your PC or VPS must stay on, awake and online for the whole session. A home PC works, but a power cut, Windows update, sleep mode or internet drop can miss or delay an exit.
A trading VPS (a remote Windows computer in a data centre, ideally near the CME servers in Chicago) avoids most of that: stable power, a fast connection and no surprise restarts. Your licence runs on a limited number of computers at a time, and you can move it yourself on the licence page.
Accounts, licence and billing
Do I need to trade live?
No. Matrix Trader runs on Sim (simulation) accounts. Our strategies are hard-coded to a specific Sim account name for each strategy and market, the same for every member, to avoid instrument clashes and ghost orders. The Matrix Trader Dashboard (a NinjaTrader add-on that comes with the strategy) creates all the Sim accounts with one click, then you restart NinjaTrader once (see the setup guide). To trade a prop-firm evaluation or funded account (only firms that allow automated trading) or a live account, copy from your Matrix Sim accounts with your own copy-trading tool, or trade the signals manually.
Can I copy trades to a live or prop-firm account?
Copying trades to a live or prop-firm account with your own trade copier is entirely your decision and your risk. Matrix Trading is a software provider and does not manage accounts.
Where do I get my licence key?
On the licence page. Log in with the Discord account that holds your Matrix Trader subscription, accept the risk disclaimer and generate your key.
How am I billed, and can I cancel?
Paid plans are monthly subscriptions through Whop. Cancel any time from Whop. There are no lifetime licences.
Results and community
How can I see past results?
Every trade is posted live to #matrix-signals, and an end-of-day results card for each strategy, red days included, is posted in #daily-results on our Discord.
Are the results real money?
No. Results posted by Matrix Trading come from running the Matrix strategies on simulated (Sim) accounts. Every member creates the same Sim account names in NinjaTrader 8. Simulated results have limitations; see the risk disclosure.
Is this financial advice?
No. Matrix Trading provides software and educational trade signals. Nothing on this site or in the Discord is financial advice or a recommendation to buy or sell.
Stop hoping. Start trading with a plan.
